"Perhaps we should have coordinated this ahead of time," Spencer says, bemused.

Sitting on the dining table, stuck into every drinking glass they own, are six dozen roses in varying colors, three mixed bouquets of flowers, and an insanely large bundle of daisies that wouldn't fit into anything less roomy than the mixing bowl. The coffee table is piled high with twelve heart-shaped boxes of chocolate, and the couch is laden with stuffed animals, gigantic teddy bears and puppy dogs and kitty cats and bunnies bearing big red satin bows and hearts labeled "I Love You" and "Be My Valentine", taking up every bit of available room.

"I think it's romantic," Brendon says, and, "I think it's ridiculous," says Ryan, grinning, and Jon doesn't say anything because he's laughing too hard, literally on the floor laughing, clutching at his stomach as if it hurts.

"Okay, new rule," Spencer says firmly. "From now on, no more Valentine's Day surprises, okay? We'll do it Secret Santa style, everyone pick a name from a hat so there's one gift each, not..." Looks at the dining table, shakes his head.

"I think it's romantic," repeats Brendon, reaching out to set a wreath of daisies atop Spencer's head.

"Where's mine?" Ryan asks Brendon, while Jon takes one look at Spencer and his daisy wreath and dissolves into hysterics all over again. Brendon obediently takes up another handful of daisies and begins to weave another wreath, and Spencer shakes his head again, daisies flopping hither and yon, and sighs.

It's not until later, when they're snuggled together on the couch, surrounded and pillowed by the masses of stuffed animals, each of them wearing a proper wreath of flowers, sipping expensive freshly-ground coffee and licking chocolate from each other's fingers as they sample the various boxes of candy and trade off tastes of things, that Spencer actually begins to get into the spirit of the thing. It's Valentine's Day, a day to celebrate romance, and it suddenly seems right and proper that there should be an explosion of flowers and chocolate and plush animal friends, to match the overwhelming amount of love that they share between the four of them.

"You were right, Bren," he says contentedly, settling back against Jon's chest, tugging Ryan's arm a little more firmly around himself, "this is romantic," and Brendon leans over to capture his mouth in a chocolate-flavored kiss.

"You've gonna love the red satin bedsheets," Brendon promises him, and Spencer's laughter is cut off by Jon's fingers popping another chocolate - mmm, orange cream - into his mouth.
